The expectations of an online class are a bit different from a face-to-face class. Click on the Expectations Link above to find out the general expectations of an online class. Please be aware that your instructor may have more specific or additional expectations.

The way you learn can be a factor in becoming a successful online learner. Online Class

In order to be successful in an online class, you will need to adjust your learning strategies . Here are some helpful tips:

  • Manage your time
    • Managing your time is critical in an online class. You may think that you will need to spend less time on an online class. However, that is not always the case.
  • Start your work immediately
    • Do not wait until the last minute to complete your readings, assignments and projects.
  • Ask for help
    • If you don't understand something, be sure to ask for help. Make sure you know what the communication policies are for your course.
  • Adjust to the new learning environment
    • You may need to adjust to the online environment. If you are not sure what kind of learner you are, take one of the learning style questionnaires by clicking on the Learning Styles link above.
  • Find out what support services are available to you
    • Make sure you know how to get access to hardware and software support.
